Royals (Bi-Weekly Book Review)

Ah! So. . .once more. . .I’m here again. I’m about to start college and so I’m hoping that my time will be more well spent on things I should do. . .like this. I do so hate leaving y’all without anything. SO, back with another post! Thank you for your patience.

I’m resurrecting my bi-weekly book reviews. So, every other week. . .a new book review! I promise. Really, really promise. . .I will try to keep it up.

Name: Royals by Rachel Hawkins

Rating: 5/5 Stars

Professional Summary: Meet Daisy Winters. She’s an offbeat sixteen-year-old Floridian with mermaid-red hair; a part time job at a bootleg Walmart, and a perfect older sister who’s nearly engaged to the Crown Prince of Scotland. Daisy has no desire to live in the spotlight, but relentless tabloid attention forces her to join Ellie at the relative seclusion of the castle across the pond.

While the dashing young Miles has been appointed to teach Daisy the ropes of being regal, the prince’s roguish younger brother kicks up scandal wherever he goes, and tries his best to take Daisy along for the ride. The crown–and the intriguing Miles–might be trying to make Daisy into a lady . . . but Daisy may just rewrite the royal rulebook to suit herself.

My Summary: Daisy Winters is less than thrilled when her sister, Ellie, agrees to marry the Crown Prince of Scotland, even if she does like the guy. She hates the spotlight and is forced, kicking and screaming into it. Prince Sebastian, the younger brother of Ellie’s fiancee  is quite the mischievous trouble maker. After a few incidents, Miles, the handsome friend takes Ellie under his wing to help her learn the ropes. Despite what the Queen and Miles may want, Daisy isn’t easily influenced. She might just do her own thing. . .AND. . .make it endearing at the same time!

My Review: I loved this book! I couldn’t stop laughing from the first chapter. I wasn’t sure what to expect. . .I thought maybe a corny romance? Not that I minded. But it wasn’t corny, in my humble opinion. It was fun, funny, lighthearted, relatable, and just a really awesome weekend read.

Characters: The characters are well drawn and just generally enjoyable. . .unless you’re supposed to dislike them and then you do with a passion! Daisy’s complaint about being pushed into the spotlight really hit home with my very introverted self. Her reactions were totally relatable. I shudder just to think about being in her place!

Plot: The plot and story was superbly written and very interesting. I loved it and it hooked me from the beginning and never lost my interest.

In Summary: I highly recommend it. It was a great book and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
